Update: Once Upon A Mattress, Apartment!, and Thumb

So, in reverse chronological order:

1) Mary, Ariel, and I went to see "Once Upon A Mattress" at Northwestern. It was awesome. It helped that we had awesome seats (3rd row, middleish-left), but it was a small theater, and the acting, singing, and lighting, etc. was excellent. It's still playing, so I recommend it to all that will be in Chicago in the next 2 weeks or so. Here's the link (again)

2) Mary and I found an apartment where we want to live that's nice, and has a garbage chute, flyboy. No pictures online yet. It's conveniently located near public transit, but the Metra, not CTA. It's pretty close, but still kinda obnoxious for friends, I expect.

3) During lab (on Tuesday), I was clearing from glass* from a student's benchtop, and managed to cut my thumb badly. I applied some first aid bandages, and wrapped it in tape it to maintain direct pressure. This was around 2pm. When I got home at 5:30pm, I removed the bandage, and it was still bleeding (when pressure was removed), so I replaced the bandage. After reading about how bleeding should stop after a few minutes (of direct pressure), I decided I should go see a doctor, but I'm doctorless in the area. After posking around at the website of Office of Research Safety, I found out what I was supposed to do, and I took the CTA train up to Evanston Hospital Emergency Room, and got it taken care of. Mary came in right as I was finishing, and then we ate Chinese. Instead of stitches, I got my thumb "glued" in place. The glue acts as a temporary scab, so the real scab can form and I can get some healing going on.

*The students dropped an 8in (tall) test tube with 10g of liquid benzophenone on the benchtop. The test tube's bottom shattered, causing the benzophenone to crystallize, sticking the glass to the benchtop. I tried to wiggle the first big piece loose, but it came loose and cut my thumb.

For future reference, according to one of the ER doctors at my hometown's hospital, you can use hardware-store superglue if you don't want to go to the ER to have Dermabond put on -- it will just sting more.
